The
Stags Head
Dating
back in parts to the 17th century, The Stags Head, a former coaching
inn, is located in the heart of the ancient village of Goosnargh,
set amidst the beautiful Forest of Bowland countryside in the
heart of rural Lancashire.

The
surrounding countryside is a labyrinth of lanes and woods just
waiting to be explored - but remember to save some time to explore
The Stags Head with it's many hidden corners and bars. You might
even catch a glimpse of the Stags Head ghost which is reported
to glide around the dining room during the evenings - it's obviously
heard about the great food!
|
It's
not only the ghosts you need to watch out for, there is apparently
a trap door somewhere which leads to a network of tunnels, one
of which is said to lead to Chingle Hall - the oldest brick built
house still in existence and also reputed to be haunted. Of course
no one mentions how many pints of ale have been consumed before
the 'sightings' have taken place!

There's
something to suit everyone at The Stags Head, whether it be a quiet
drink in the snug, a celebration dinner in the formal but cosy dining
room or a relaxed Sunday lunch in the conservatory overlooking the
garden. During the winter months , there's two roaring log fires
to sit beside whilst roasting chestnuts! |
The
bar is always stocked with a fine selection of draught, bottled
and traditional cask ales. There's also a wide selection of quality
wines, with many available by the glass. The Stags Head holds
annual Beer Festivals, which showcase over twenty seasonal real
ales. Check the 'Forthcoming Events ' page for details of the
next festival.

There's
a friendly, cosy atmosphere at The Stags Head and plenty of charm
with it's mixture of olde world odds and ends, low ceilings, crackling
fires and wood beams. Pop in and see for yourself sometime, you're
always assured of a warm welcome. |
