Cask
Conditioned Ales
At
The Stags Head we pride ourselves in having a fine range of guest ales
to choose from.
Alongside
our regular range of lagers and ciders, we always have Theakston's Best
Bitter on the handpump which is supplemented with a weekly changing
selection of seasonal real ales from regional and micro breweries. One
of the favorites is Theakstons Old Peculier which makes regular welcome
appearances.
The
Landlord of the Stags Head is a keen member of CAMRA (Campaign for Real
Ale) and has had his first article for "Ale Cry" published
in 2006.
The
Stags Head was voted "REAL ALE PUB OF THE SEASON, WINTER 2006"
by CAMRA, and The Stags Head is listed in the current CAMRA "Good
Beer Guide".
April
2006 saw the first Stags Head Beer Festival where the cask ales really
were the stars of the show! Over twenty ales from around the country,
including many from Lancashire - courtesy of Bowland Brewery and Red
Rose Brewery, were on offer for four days. The Stags Head also had it's
own ale "Stags Head Gold", which is sure to return by public
demand!
Such
was the success of the first beer festival, the Stags Head held a second
festival in May 2007. In all, there were over twenty ales along with
a hand full of ciders. Plus, there was live music and a traditional
outdoor hog roast. A good time was certainly had by all!
The
third Beer Festival is to be held in May 2008, and it looks set to be
bigger and better than previous years!
