Wine

The Stags Head has an extensive wine list with many of the wines available by the glass. All of the wines have been chosen with the expert help of Miles Coran from Bowland Forest Vintners in Whitewell near Clitheroe.

 

Whites

La Vicomte Blanc France. Our House White - crisp, dry and refreshing. £10.50 bottle or £2.60 standard glass.

Chardonnay Les Estrellas Chile. Ripe tropical fruit combines with careful use of oak to produce this medium to full bodied Chardonnay. £12.50 bottle or £3.30 standard glass.

Rudesheimer Nahegarten Germany. Classic sweet medium wine with scented fruit flavours. £12.50 bottle or £3.30 standard glass.

Sauvignon Blanc Tierra Antica Chile. An excellent Chilean Sauvignon Blanc! £12.50 bottle or £3.30 standard glass.

Chardonnay Crystal Brook Australia. Intense melon and peach combine with refreshing acidity and a long creamy finish. £14.50 bottle or £3.75 standard glass.

Pinot Grigio Porta Italica Italy. Pear-drops, honeysuckle, great acidity and balance. £15.00 bottle or £3.85 standard glass.

 

Reds

Merlot Eloise France. Our House Merlot. A superb 100% merlot at a remarkable price! £10.95 bottle or £2.75 standard glass.

Merlot Las Estrellas Chile. Deeply coloured with aromas of plums, violets, herbs and vanilla. £12.50 bottle or £3.30 standard glass.

Shiraz Solora Western Australia. Impressively deep in colour. The palate is spicy with ripe tannins. £14.50 bottle or £3.75 standard glass.

Rioja El Coto Spain. Traditional style with concentrated red fruits and creamy vanilla. £16.00 bottle or £4.20 standard glass.

Beaujolais Domaines Chatelord France. More like a top quality Burgundy, this is full of mulberry and plum with crunchy acidity. £17.00 bottle.

 

Rose

Rose Vinas del Vero Rosado Spain. Pale pink in colour, this fantastic rose is ideal for English summer quaffing. Packed full of strawberry and redcurrant-like fruits with a soft, rounded finish. £12.50 bottle £3.30 standard glass.

 

Sparkling

Sparkling white Charles Pelletier. Made in the same way as Champagne, this sparkling wine is superb value. No orange juice required with this sparkler. £16.00 bottle.

Champagne Gallimard. A modern handmade Champagne made from 100% Pinot Noir, grown by the Gallimard family thereby allowing complete control of the quality and price of the fruit. This has resulted in a rounded, balanced and distinctive Champagne which is only produced in small quantities. a real treat. £30.00 bottle.

Champagne Brut NV Pol Roger. Wonderfully fruity and well structured with a silky finish. £42.00 bottle.
